Evidence in the right place

Media and image alignment

Photographs and video are part of the historical record. They lose value when clips are stretched, cropped, mislabeled, or dropped over a speech simply because the editor needed movement on the screen.

Hard rules

Image handling that cannot be improvised.

Citizens Academy derivative only

Never deploy the original source image. Only use a visually inspected derivative named chico-fire-hose-cropped.webp after every agency logo and mark is removed. Do not imply endorsement.

Cecilia photographer mark

The photographer’s logo must remain completely visible. Do not crop, blur, cover, remove, or crowd it.

Newsom in Grass Valley

Lead with the image of Randall speaking directly with Gavin Newsom. Other posed photographs show proximity; the Grass Valley image shows engagement.

Archive identifications

Additional factual captions.

Stonewall Alliance proclamation

Mayor Scott Gruendl presented a proclamation recognizing Stonewall Alliance of Chico to then-Executive Director Thomas Kelem. Tami Ritter and Randall Stone are standing and applauding; Forest Harlan is standing in the audience. Interpretations of other participants remain internal until video or minutes support them.

Comanche Creek Greenway

Young Rhys Stone is actually cutting the ribbon at the opening. The photograph belongs to the project and family story, not a generic ceremonial gallery.

ACS Park Ranger truck

Photographed by Randall while the truck actively collected debris during the beginning of Chico’s ACS program. It documents field work, not merely a vehicle.

Green New Deal pledge

Randall signing in the mayor’s office with Dave Garcia, Aaron Haar, and one woman not yet identified. The date, organization, and complete signatory record remain open.
